White Label: Customizing Domain and CNAME

close

In this example, we assume that you own the domain dataconnect.bot and wish to create the subdomain ai for hosting the Conduit app.

Setting up a domain involves three steps:

  1. Create a CNAME record in your DNS settings.
  2. Provide the domain name to Conduit.
  3. Wait for confirmation.

DNS settings

You need to add a CNAME record at your domain registrar, specifying "app.getconduit.app" as the value.

Below are instructions for adding a CNAME record for some common registrars:

GoDaddy: Adding a CNAME Record
Namecheap: How to Create a CNAME Record for Your Domain

Conduit settings

Enter your desired domain name for your white label dashboard, in the format "ai.dataconnect.bot", without the "https://" prefix.

When you click the Save button, two things happen:

  1. Our application verifies that the CNAME is correctly configured in your DNS settings. If it is not, an error message will be displayed. This could indicate that your DNS settings update has not yet been deployed or there is a mistake in the configuration.
  2. Our application initiates configuration updates on our end, which may take up to 24 hours to complete. You will see the "In Review..." message:

You only need to wait a couple of hours hours while our team completes the configuration on our end.

Once everything is ready, we'll send you a confirmation email that your application is now available at the new domain name.

Resolving Issues

If you encounter the message "DNS CNAME record <your domain name> not found," it indicates that our server was unable to locate the subdomain in your domain's DNS settings.

For example, if your domain name is dataconnect.bot and you are using the ai subdomain for the Conduit application, you should specify ai.dataconnect.bot. Here, ai is the CNAME in your DNS, and dataconnect.bot is your root domain.

You cannot use the root domain directly (dataconnect.bot); you must use a subdomain (ai.dataconnect.bot).
