AI in Copilot vs AI in Workflows
Choosing Between AI in Copilot and Workflows
Both Copilot and Workflows leverage AI, but they are designed for different purposes and excel in distinct areas.
Copilot is ideal for discovering the right questions to ask. It allows you to quickly experiment with different prompts or data transformation steps, making it a great tool for exploration and iteration.
Workflows, on the other hand, are more suited for situations where you already have defined questions and prompts. Workflows enable you to automate these tasks, allowing AI to generate reports for you regularly, without the need for manual input.
Workflows are especially effective for integrating into automated processes, as they can interact with external applications and ensure consistent data formatting.
Anything possible in Workflow can also be achieved in Copilot. But Workflows can be used even if you don't know how to write effective prompts - in some cases it's convenient.
Recommended Approach:
- Use Copilot to identify the most effective prompts.
- Once you've refined your prompts, use Workflows to automate the report generation process.
The "Replay AI chat" building block
However, we recognize that transitioning to Workflows represents a significant increase in complexity.
To streamline this process, we will introduce a feature allowing chats to be replayed within Workflows. Here's how it works:
- You write a chat to generate a report.
- Next, you set up a Workflow that incorporates the "Replay AI chat" building block.
- This building block uses the data from the designated chat and replicate all the queries made during that chat.
- The latest dataset created during the chat will be copied to the Workflow, where it can be utilized for tasks like displaying in a Dashboard or saving to a Google Spreadsheet.
